Dental implants offer you the possibility to have a permanent tooth replacement that blends seamlessly with your natural smile!

Dental implants are small titanium posts directly placed into your jawbone to replace a missing tooth root. The post acts as a foundation for common dental restorations, renewing your ability to speak, chew, and smile with full confidence.

There are multiple ways implants can be used to restore your smile, including:

  • Replacing a single tooth
  • Replacing multiple teeth
  • Supporting and stabilizing dentures

With dental implants, you can rediscover the benefits of a fully functional and beautiful smile.

Placing Your Dental Implant

Here is our step-by-step breakdown of the procedure.

Preparation

During your first appointment, you’ll undergo a dental examination and x-rays to determine if you are a candidate for implants. If you are, Dr. Khan will use this appointment to create a treatment plan and address your specific needs and concerns.

Dr. Khan will use our intraoral digital camera to render 3D images of your teeth and plan your procedure. This will allow her to get a more rounded view of your mouth and identify the ideal points for the implant insertion - producing a more predictable outcome. We’ll also provide our partner lab with all your information to create custom implants designed around your needs.

Our Lake Bluff dentist will surgically insert your titanium implant into your jawbone. The implant will then need six to twelve weeks to fuse with your bone in a process called “osseointegration.” Once fully fused with your jawbone, the abutment will be placed to serve as an anchor to your restoration. Finally, a custom-made restoration will be placed on the top of the implant, restoring your smile.

Great experience, very nice! I recommend everyone to Lake Bluff Dentistry, I couldn't be happier!

Implants FAQs

Your questions answered by a professional.
  • Am I a candidate for dental implants?

Almost anyone who has missing teeth is a candidate for dental implants. Dr. Khan will need to evaluate you to assess if dental implants are the ideal solution for you and your needs.

  • How long do implants last?

Unlike your natural teeth, dental implants are not vulnerable to dental diseases. However, good oral hygiene, regular check-ups, and professional cleanings are essential for long-lasting implants.

  • Can I remove my dental implants daily?

No. Dental implants are fixed into your jawbone. This allows your new restoration to enjoy a more stable foundation that is closest to your natural ones.

  • Do dental implants hurt?

We work hard to make your implant placement as pain-free as possible. After dental implant surgery, your discomfort will be minimal. Any pain can be cared for with over-the-counter medication.
